About FSSAI

FSSAI lays down science-based standards for food articles and regulates their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food to 130 crore citizens of the country. The authority is also responsible for creating an information network across the country so that the public, consumers, etc, receive rapid, reliable and accurate information about food safety and hygiene and related issues of concern.

Responsibilities

Interns will be assigned various tasks based on their academic background and interests. Some responsibilities may include:

Assisting in research projects related to food safety.

Participating in data collection and analysis.

Supporting the development of educational materials on food safety.

Engaging in outreach programs aimed at raising awareness about food regulations.

Stipend

A stipend of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) for the whole internship period will be given to the deserving interns on the recommendation of the Office/Division they are attached to. The criteria for deserving interns will be decided based on their (a) attendance, (b) assessment by their respective reporting officers, and (c) evaluation of their reports by Divisional Heads at FSSAI (HQ) and Director at ROs/NFLs.

Eligibility Criteria

Students pursuing a full-time Graduate/Post Graduate Degree/higher degree from a recognized Institute within India/ abroad in any of the following:

  • Pursuing Post Graduate Degree/B.Tech/BE from a recognized University or Institution in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Food Technology or Food Science & Technology or Food & Nutrition or Edible Oil Technology or Microbiology or Dairy Technology or Agricultural or horticultural Sciences or Industrial Microbiology or Toxicology or Public Health or Life Science or Biotechnology or Fruit & Vegetable Technology or Food Safety and Quality Assurance.
  • Business Administration & Management, including policy regulation and related fields.
  • PG Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication and Public Relations.
  • B.E. / B. Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology Software Engineering or related Stream.
  • Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Public Policy Public Administration.
  • Bachelor/Master of Law.

Note—Students in their third or fourth year of a four-year bachelor’s program in food technology or a related field can also apply.

Internships will be available throughout the year at different points of time. All internships offered will be for duration of minimum 4 weeks.
