Biotechnology deliver much to the industries including Pharma, Biopharma, Food, Agriculture and almost all allied fields related to Life Sciences.
Still, most students find it difficult to get suitable jobs at early stage of their career and this may be due to the academic curriculum that teaches theory rather being practical. Biotechnology is a field of total practical experience and if a student/professional do not have a know how of the same it will be difficult to get a proper job in the domain.
Also, many companies pay very less especially in the Life Sciences field even with some experience while we will not see such situation in other fields like IT. Companies must also think to increase the wages as many are getting salary that is even less than what a Government employee get in a Class D service. This is also a point we must discuss.
The main causes maybe:-
- Academic curriculum is not designed as per industry needs
- Lack of guidance
- Less industrial knowledge and less practical skills
- Skills do not meet requirements ( Many reasons for the same)
